To use it you clamp it over the chain and seal the unit shut, then holding it with one hand, rotate the cranks so that the chain moves freely through it. The brushes inside the device clean the chain as you rotate the cranks. It also comes with a brush and sprocket scraper so you can maintain your entire drivetrain.
